Curator’s reflection
In this multi-figure study, Broome explores the many states of one self-curious, exhausted, expressive, and exposed.
From quiet observation to theatrical gesture, from vulnerability to release, the sequence unfolds like a private performance. The bed or table becomes a stage, the canvas a mirror.
Broome's use of spare line and warm tonal harmony allows each emotion to breathe. Nothing is overworked; everything is honest.
This work reminds us that identity is never fixed. We are always becoming, always reacting, always revealing often all at once.

- Broome's minimal line work and open composition create a sense of movement across time and emotion. The repetition of the figure invites us to consider the fluidity of identity. The warm yellow ground unifies the scenes, while the accents of red, blue, and white bring energy and immediacy to each gesture.
